This is how I explain Kidney Essence (Jing) to patients.

I was born 10 weeks premature with asthma and scoliosis. I was also bald until I was 2 years old and didn’t walk until I was 19th months old.

In a nutshell, I was not blessed with great Kidney Essence, that’s for sure!

So I have to be very vigilant with my lifestyle to preserve my essence and keep my TCM Kidneys healthy. Hope your Essence cup is fuller than mine 🙏

KD Essence is not replaceable once lost as we age, but we can preserve it by having a healthy lifestyle, nourishing our soul, keeping a calm mind and having a purpose.

Keep rocking using TCM,

Let’s talk about Essence

Essence is stored in the Kidneys, but also circulates all over the body particularly in the 8 extraordinary meridians. Essence is made of congenital Qi & lifestyle. It is very difficult to replenish if lost.

  • Essence functions: growth (Child), reproduction (sexual activity, pregnancy), development (brain). As the person ages, the essence diminish.

  • Essence is primarily Yin in nature.

  • Production: essence produces bone marrow.
