Your Go-To TCM Protocol for Frozen Shoulder in Menopause
Frozen shoulder is one of the most common—and most frustrating!—conditions I see in women going through menopause.
It starts innocently enough: a bit of tightness reaching behind the back or brushing the hair… and suddenly, the shoulder feels locked, painful, and unresponsive to stretching.
But here’s the thing most people (and even some practitioners) miss:
👉 It’s not just about local stagnation.
Frozen shoulder during menopause is deeply connected to hormonal shifts and internal imbalance.
And YES—you can use this protocol for anyone with a frozen shoulder, not just menopausal women!
I taught this protocol recently in a YouTube Live, and I have made it available for you to watch (and rewatch!) for you and, in turn, your patients, to benefit from.
Together, let’s make a difference in patients’ lives!
And as always, keep rocking it using TCM,

Hey Clara!
Thank you so much for this course! I have at least 5 women in this category with shoulder/arm issues and I know this will help a lot!
My one person keeps saying the pain usually only shows up at night and at the base of the deltoid/bordering the bicep. One of her other practitioners is convinced it is the starting of frozen shoulder. Her ROM is pretty good. She is in her early 70’s as well. I’ve been treating it as a frozen shoulder and extend cupping and gua sha into the area of pain as well as ashi points. I have just started to incorporate yin/blood nourishing points to see if that helps, but not significantly yet. Is that symptom of being at night only, reflective of yin def? Or as you mentioned would it only be the cold-damp Bi? Thank you for your help!
Also, as a side note, I have been recommending people with inflammation and arthritis to use Castor oil on the area as it is a good topical anti-inflammatory. It is messy, but helpful!
I’m so happy you enjoyed the course. Thank you so much, Jamie! You made my day!
For your elderly patient, yes. Any symptoms that are worse at night are either blood and/or yin deficiency because nighttime is yin time, so you are absolutely correct. 😍
