Nobody messes with my mom. She’s always right and will bite your head off if you don’t do it her way. Imagine when at 10 years old, I decided to paint our kitchen bright turquoise. Her LV yang exploded when she came home and saw I had painted the fridge, the windows and the door as well as the walls!  It’s funny now, but boy, it was quite a sight back then. My mom was livid!

She was a single mother and worked 12 hour days every day of the week. She was constantly stressed trying to make ends meet. I got yelled at a lot (often with legitimate reason!), and her LV got challenged over and over. So naturally, she relaxed by smoking, and drinking wine and coffee: perfect for her liver, right?

Today, she’s 88 years old and still a force to reckon with. Now, it’s my turn to feel stressed about her health and her aging. Although, I like my glass of wine and my blue cheese (It’s in my French DNA, what can I say!), I make sure I balance it out with Liver foods, such as leafy greens, asparagus, lemon and apple cider vinegar, and every spring I gently cleanse my body for a few days.
