The 3 Anti-Aging Exercises from Chinese Medicine

So today I wanted to share the 3 top anti-aging exercises from a Chinese medicine perspective because I’m fast approaching 60 😱 and feeling healthy and young at heart!

Are those going to stop you from aging? No! But along with other recommendations I share in this video, they will keep you (and your patients) living a healthier life for much longer. 🌷

I have been sharing these 3 anti-aging exercises with my patients to go alongside my treatments since 2003.

Stay young, stay healthy, and above all, keep rocking using TCM,

The Ani Aging Exercises (and 5 Tips) from Chinese Medicine

The 3 Anti-Aging Exercises

1. Deep abdominal breathing (LUNG & KIDNEY Qi)

Connecting our TCM Lung and Kidneys through our breath is key to aging well. The TCM kidneys are connected to our aging system, we need to preserve our KD Essence by combatting stress with deep abdominal exercises.

Sit or lay down in a comfortable position. Place your dominant hand on your lower belly on REN 6 & REN 4 area. Take 6 deep breaths from the Lung to the kidney while resting your hand on the lower belly. This allows the Kidney to grasp Lung Qi (oxygen is life!). Then massage gently in a circular motion 36 times clockwise (or in the colon elimination direction).

2. Prevention is essential to living a healthy life

ST 36 is the BEST acupuncture point to boost the immune system, regulate digestion, and increase energy, and is an overall point to stay healthy. It is one of the most used acupuncture points in clinical practice.

Sitting in a comfortable position, find ST 36 using your hand width you’ll find the point below the knee cap (patella), just 1 finger breadth from the tibia (shin bone), massage using a ball along the leg (up and down), and in a circle on the point for 2 min on each side.

3. Anti Aging Exercise from Qi Gong

This is a Qi Gong exercise. SI 6 in Qi Gong is said to relax the shoulders and neck to relieve stress; therefore, slowing the aging process. In TCM, the Small Intestine is paired with the Heart system and in turn, all the long-standing emotions.

Find SI 6 by putting your index finger on the bony part of the wrist called the styloid process of the ulna bone. Put your palm on your heart while taking deep breaths. Start massaging SI 6 in a circular motion alternating directions for 2 min, then pinch and lift the skin gently but rapidly 6 times. Repeat on the opposite side.

4. The 8 other steps you can take to age healthily

  1. Diet: don’t overeat, whole foods, in-season, local, and mindfully! TCM often recommends dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes to address imbalances and prevent future problems.
➡️ Grab your FREE TCM Nutrition PDF: it covers common Liver, Heart, Spleen, Lung & Kidney patterns. It offers healing foods for all types of symptoms and emotions that can be addressed through Nutrition. 🍎Chinese medicine nutrition
  2. Exercise: improves cardiovascular health, strengthens bones and muscles, and boosts mental health.
  3. Mental Stimulation: Keep your brain active through learning new skills, hobbies, reading, or engaging in activities that challenge your cognition.
  4. Adequate Sleep: have a sleep routine!
  5. Stress management: Acupuncture! Yoga, Qi Gong, dancing, singing, reading. Engaging in activities that promote a positive mood and outlook can improve your mental health and enhance your quality of life.
  6. Mindfullness & meditation
  7. Social Connections: HUGS! Maintain strong social ties and engage in community activities. Social interaction can boost your mood, and reduce the risk of depression.
  8. Having a purpose: mine is to continue to spread the amazing benefits of Chinese medicine and teach it in an easy way for everyone to benefit from it!

If you’re not sure, watch my video here on the five spirits according to Chinese medicine, because it’ll explain to you how we go about connecting our body to our mind, to our spirit, and to the world around us in order to figure out our purpose. And no matter what you do, stay healthy, stay young, and keep rocking it using TCM.

A message of great importance. Everyone over 50 years should definitely do this exercise. It’s very simple and easy to learn the practice. One of my suggestions is to try massaging yourself applying with some oil all over the body to maintain the skin elasticity.

Hi Clara, thank you for those tips! Thank you for all the info! I downloaded the nutrition tips. Apart from eating right, if the damage has already been done, say spleen qi deficiency with damp and phlegm, would those be best treated with points on the spleen channel?
