Yin Yang theory in Chinese medicine

The Yin Yang Theory in Chinese Medicine

I’ve been teaching TCM to future acupuncture professionals since 2008 and absolutely love it! Now, my goal is to expand my reach to TCM Rock Stars (yep, that’s you!) all over the world. I want to make Chinese medicine easy to grasp and fun to learn. This video course is all about the Yin Yang Theory. Enjoy and let me know what you think in the comment section below.

In the mean time, keep rocking using TCM,

Clara

PS: If you want more, check out these other Chinese Medicine foundation made easy lessons: The 5 Element Theory , The Zang-Fu Organs, and The 4 Vital Substances.

All the graphics from this video are from my book “Chinese Medicine Made Easy”, have you got your copy yet?

1- Yin Yang theory is the foundation for physiology, pathology and treatment of TCM.

  • Yin & Yang are opposite: relative opposition only
  • Inter-dependance: one cannot exist without the other (day & night)
  • The mutual consumption: it’s a quantitative change (continuous adjustment of relative level of yin & yang)
  • Inter-transformation: it’s a qualitative change (certain conditions are required: egg to Chick)
  • Nothing is totally Yin or totally Yang
  • Yin and Yang contain each others seed.

2- Yin Organs: Lung, Heart, Liver, Spleen, Kidney, Pericardium

3- Yang organs: Large intestine, Small intestine, Gallbladder, Stomach, Bladder, San Jiao (Triple burner)

4- Yin & Yang Pathology:

  • Excess of Yang causes heat syndromes
  • Excess of Yin causes cold syndromes
  • Deficiency of Yang brings cold syndrome (Yang deficiency cold)
  • Deficiency of Yin brings heat syndrome (Yin deficiency heat)

    Hi Clara,

Thanks for this video, easy to understand and learn. One feedback is, from 17.02 min the topic has become more perplexing, hence more time is required for novice like me. 🙂

Many thanks! May nature bless you for your selfless service towards humanity.

    Regards
    Sambodhan
