Today, I look at the San Jiao channel and its 23 acupuncture points functions and location made easy. Without a doubt, the San Jiao is a little bit of a weird entity within the Zang Fu organ theory in Chinese medicine. π§
Firstly, nobody can agree on how to translate the San Jiao. Therefore, so many books will have Triple Warmer, Triple Heater, Burner, and Energizer. π
Personally, that is so confusing to me. Moreover, I prefer to keep it the San Jiao so we’re not confused about so many translations. Secondly, in the Zang Fu theory, the San Jiao is the only one that doesn’t connect to a physical specific organ, like the liver, the heart, the lung, or the large intestine, this is why I’d rather keep it the San Jiao instead of translating it. π
Does that make sense? Okay, so let’s try to demystify this weird organ system (and meridian) in Chinese medicine.
In clinical practice, I use a lot of the San Jiao acupuncture points. SJ 5, SJ 6, SJ 14, SJ 21, and SJ 23 are a very big part of my practice.
In this new series on acupuncture points locations & functions of each channel, I aim to make each point easy to locate, as well as differentiate all acupuncture points functions. Moreover, I also look at Channel pathways and how relevant they are in practice.
Let me know what you think and keep rocking it with acupuncture! π
